Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Catherine Cortez Masto (D-Nev.) released the following statement after voting in opposition to S.2155, the Wall Street Reform Roll Back bill:
“I am deeply worried about the devastating repercussions this bill would have on American families. By stripping away important regulations to hold banks accountable, we are risking another financial crisis that is rooted in unfair lending practices. We risk a repeat of the housing crisis that robbed Nevadans of their homes and livelihoods because banks had free rein to mislead consumers with false promises. It is disappointing and unfortunate that the Senate made the false choice today by putting Big Banks and their lobbyists first, instead of prioritizing the protection of American consumers from predatory and fraudulent banking practices.”
