Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Catherine Cortez Masto (D-Nev.) released the following statement in response to the Supreme Court’s ruling today in the Masterpiece Cakeshop v. Colorado Civil Rights Commission case.
“Today, the Supreme Court had the opportunity to take a strong stand against discrimination. I am disappointed that the Court did not take this opportunity to say so unequivocally. I will continue to fight in Congress for the passage of the Equality Act to ensure federal protections for every LGBTQ citizen against discrimination on the basis of sex, sexual orientation and gender identity in public accommodations. Discrimination has no place in America.”
