Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Catherine Cortez Masto (D-Nev.) released the following statement on Yucca Mountain’s exclusion from the federal spending bill:
“This is a victory for Nevadans whose health and livelihood are constantly under threat because of renewed attempts to revive the Yucca Mountain project. While the fight doesn’t end here, President Trump and House Republicans should take this as another sign that this dangerous project will never come to life because Nevadans will continue to resist it at all costs. Together with Nevada’s congressional delegation and Governor Sandoval, I will never stop fighting until we permanently put an end to a project that tramples states’ rights and endangers Nevadans.”
