Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Catherine Cortez Masto (D-Nev.) issued the following release on the passing of retired Las Vegas Police Captain Larry Burns.
“Paul and I are deeply saddened to learn of Captain Larry Burns’ passing. Larry was a friend and beloved figure in Las Vegas for nearly 40 years. He dedicated his life to serving and protecting our community for twenty-seven years and was the longest-serving SWAT commander in Metro history. From his work to rehabilitate the communities he helped protect in West Las Vegas, to his fierce integrity and commitment to the department, Larry was a man who always did the right thing. Our thoughts are with his wife and their children during this difficult time, and with our community of Las Vegas that is mourning the loss of a dear friend.
