“I am saddened by the news of the passing of former First Lady Barbara Bush. Barbara Bush was a committed public servant, a caring mother, and a devoted wife. Her love of family and country will continue to be an example for us all. Her dedication to improving literacy in America through the Barbara Bush Foundation for Family Literacy has helped ensure thousands of young boys and girls have the tools they need to succeed. She will be remembered not only for her work as First Lady, but for her love for her family and for her compassion for those around her. Paul and I send our deepest condolences to the entire Bush family during this difficult time.”
