Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Catherine Cortez Masto (D-Nev.) released the following statement about the retirement of University of Nevada, Reno President Marc Johnson, who announced today that he will leave the position of President of UNR in June of 2020 for a full-time role as a professor of economics.
“Paul and I congratulate President Johnson on his upcoming retirement after more than eight years at the helm of UNR, and I commend him for his years of service to my alma mater and the people of Nevada. He has shepherded the University during a period of tremendous expansion, with a growing faculty and student body and focusing on the innovative research that marks UNR as an academic leader. I wish him the best as he returns to teaching.”
