Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Catherine Cortez Masto (D-Nev.) released the following statement in recognition of LGBT Pride Month:
“This month, we celebrate the countless achievements of the LGBT community and remember those before us whose strength and sacrifice brought us closer to achieving equality. LGBT Pride Month is an opportunity for us to recommit to fighting for equal rights and to stand up against policies targeting the LGBT community. We have come a long way since the Stonewall riots of 1969, but we still face challenges born out of the same bigotry, intolerance and hate that led to the uprising. Today we use love to fight against hate and recognize that our fellow citizens, members of the LGBT community, must be granted the same equal rights that the rest of us enjoy.”
