Cortez Masto Statement on Labor Day

Las Vegas, Nev. – U.S. Senator Catherine Cortez Masto (D-Nev.) released the following statement in honor of Labor Day, which will be celebrated on Monday, September 4th:

“Each year on Labor Day, we honor the hardworking men and women whose contributions form the foundation of our economy. Unions have not only made our workplaces safer and more equitable, they have helped millions of American families lift themselves into the middle class.

“Yet much work remains to be done. I will continue to stand up for women’s equality in the workplace. Women must have equal pay for equal work. I will also challenge efforts by the Trump Administration to repeal rules requiring businesses to report how they are paying employees based on gender and race. This Labor Day, let us rededicate ourselves to the fight to stop pay discrimination against women and people of color, work to ensure that Nevada’s unions remain strong, and celebrate the many accomplishments of the labor movement in lifting up families so that they may achieve the American dream.”
