Cortez Masto Statement on Equal Pay Day

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Catherine Cortez Masto (D-Nev.) today released the following statement in recognition of Equal Pay Day:

“Not fairly paying women for the same work that a man does is an outdated and unlawful practice. It is unconscionable that women still have to work 94 extra days to earn what their male colleagues make in a year – and it’s even worse for women of color. Equal pay for equal work is essential for women to achieve economic security and this gap makes it harder for too many Nevadan women to put food on the table, pay mounting bills, save for a secure retirement, or get ahead in today’s economy. On Equal Pay Day, we must reaffirm our commitment to closing the wage gap, and continue to provide every woman the resources they need to live up to their full potential.”
