Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Catherine Cortez Masto (D-Nev.) released the following statement in response to Aetna’s decision to not participate in Nevada’s health insurance marketplaces:
“Senate Republicans have created a self-fulfilling prophecy in their crusade to dismantle the Affordable Care Act. These efforts to rip away the health care of Nevadans, along with President Trump’s efforts to sabotage the individual market, has resulted in uncertainty in the country’s health care marketplaces and encouraged insurers to stop serving Nevada’s communities. Last month, I introduced a bill in the Senate, the Marketplace Certainty Act, which would immediately work to fix the damage inflicted by President Trump.
“I call on Senate Republicans to immediately consider this bill, and a host of other bipartisan measures, that build upon and strengthen the foundation of the Affordable Care Act. I stand ready to work with Republicans to improve the ACA and protect the health care of working class families in Nevada.”
