Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Catherine Cortez Masto (D-Nev.) released the following statement calling for devastating economic sanctions in response to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine:
“Russia will be held accountable. The United States must send a clear message to Putin and enact devastating economic sanctions to ensure Russia pays for this invasion.”
Senator Cortez Masto has consistently advocated for the U.S. to stand up to Russia aggression and support Ukrainian sovereignty. Last month, she voted in support of sanctions against Russia and its Nord Stream 2 pipeline, and she supported similar sanctions in the 2020 and 2021 National Defense Authorization Acts.
