Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Catherine Cortez Masto (D-Nev.) released the following statement marking Immigrant Heritage Month:
“It brings me great pride to represent a state as diverse as Nevada, where different languages, customs and traditions enrich our communities. Immigrant Heritage Month marks a time to celebrate the ideals of opportunity and equality enshrined in America’s founding documents – ideals that have made our country a beacon of hope for people all over the world, including my own family. But these ideals have not been realized for all Americans, and they’re now in unprecedented danger under the Trump administration. In June, and every month, we must protect and honor immigrants whose steadfast belief in our American Dream make our country exceptional.”
