Reno, Nev. – U.S. Senator Catherine Cortez Masto (D-Nev.) participated in a roundtable discussion with women veterans hosted by Veterans Guest House. The discussion focused on experiences with the Veterans Affairs (VA) health care system, the resources and support provided to service members who have experienced sexual trauma as well as the role and treatment of women serving in the United States military.
“Providing sufficient resources to our veterans so they can thrive in civilian life is one of my top priorities,” said Senator Cortez Masto. “It is critical that elected officials listen first-hand to the stories of women veterans to know how we can most effectively ensure that they are receiving the support they need and deserve after their selfless service to our country. Women veterans have specific needs and organizations like the Veterans Guest House understand and respond to those needs. The Veterans Guest House, and the many compassionate people who run the organization, have improved the quality of life of women veterans in Reno and throughout Northern Nevada. I am grateful for the Guest House’s contributions to our community. I stand ready to support them in any way I can to help them successfully fulfill their mission.”
