Las Vegas, NV – U.S. Senator Catherine Cortez Masto (D-Nev.) today participated in a roundtable discussion with leaders of the Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) community and attended an Immigration Know Your Rights Forum. Senator Cortez Masto discussed challenges immigrants face in light of the Trump administration’s new immigration policies, invited attendees to learn about their legal rights, and encouraged them to speak up and use their voices.
“Hearing directly from our immigrant communities is necessary to understand the current challenges that immigrant families face under this Administration,” Cortez Masto said. “Immigrant families are suffering a great amount of fear and anxiety everyday due to the Administration’s harmful immigration policies. Our immigration system has left thousands of AAPI families waiting for decades to reunite with their loved ones. It is past time we come together to fix our immigration system so that it reflects our American values of fairness and family unity. I will continue to be a voice for our immigrant communities in the Senate and bring light to their countless contributions – culturally and economically.”
