Las Vegas, Nev. – Today, U.S. Senator Catherine Cortez Masto (D-Nev.) hosted a roundtable with Asian American and Pacific Islander community leaders in Las Vegas to discuss how the Inflation Reduction Act will lower health care costs, create good-paying clean energy jobs, and combat climate change. Senator Cortez Masto and participants discussed the cost-cutting provisions in the legislation, including the extended tax credits for families who receive health insurance through the Affordable Care Act and the robust investments in Nevada’s clean energy economy.
“This legislation is going to benefit Asian American and Pacific Islander communities across Nevada by cutting costs and investing in our economy,” said Senator Cortez Masto. “Thanks to the Inflation Reduction Act, Nevada seniors and families will see lower health care costs, as well as new, good-paying jobs in our booming clean-energy industry.”

Senator Cortez Masto has fought to lower health care costs and create good-paying clean-energy jobs across Nevada. She has cosponsored legislation to make health care more affordable by giving Medicare the power to negotiate drug prices, capping drug costs, and limiting egregious price hikes by drug manufacturers. The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law includes legislation Cortez Masto secured to promote Nevada’s mining and emerging battery industries and set up a sustainable critical mineral supply chain. She recently introduced legislation to expand the solar manufacturing supply chain in the U.S. She secured an extension of the Investment Tax Credit and the residential renewable energy tax credit for solar in the 2020 government funding bill.
