Cortez Masto: I am Proud to Fight for Nevada’s Priorities

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Catherine Cortez Masto (D-Nev.) released the following statement after the President signed the omnibus legislation, which secures crucial funding for critical issues impacting the State of Nevada.

“Nevadans have waited for far too long for this Republican Congress to step up and act to address important priorities. I am proud to have fought for provisions that secured additional funding to increase the supply of affordable housing, funded opioid addiction treatment, invested in the education of our kids, authorized a necessary pay raise for our troops, put money toward rural broadband and fire mitigation, secured Payment in Lieu of Taxes (PILT) money for rural communities and ensured that not one penny of federal tax dollars will go toward Yucca Mountain, or to finance the President’s stupid border wall. Now that we’ve shown forward momentum, I will continue to speak loudly for this Congress to continue a bipartisan trajectory and put Dreamers on a pathway to citizenship, stabilize the health care marketplaces and make crucial investments in Brand USA. We must stop governing by crisis in Washington and use the example of this legislation to bring us together in a spirit of compromise and bipartisanship to solve big problems. That’s what the people of Nevada elected me to do and I will continue that fight.”
