Cortez Masto Hosts The Stanley Cup In The U.S. Capitol In Honor Of Golden Knights’ Historic Championship

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Catherine Cortez Masto (D-Nev.) hosted the Stanley Cup in the United States Capitol today to honor the Vegas Golden Knights’ historic win in the National Hockey League (NHL) Stanley Cup Final last year.

“It’s an honor to host the Stanley Cup here today and celebrate our Golden Knights champions who have accomplished so much in just six seasons,” said Senator Cortez Masto. “From the U.S. Capitol to ‘The Fortress’, the Golden Knights always make Nevada proud. Las Vegas is now one of the premier sports cities in the country, and I’ll continue to support our incredible sports and entertainment industry.”

Cortez Masto passed a Senate resolution recognizing the Vegas Golden Knights for their first NHL Championship and honoring the team’s special role in uniting Las Vegas during their inaugural season following the Route 91 Harvest Festival tragedy. The second time in six years that the Golden Knights have made it to the Stanley Cup Finals, their 2023 win also marked the second major league professional sports championship in the history of the State of Nevada.
