Reno, Nev. – Today, U.S. Senator Catherine Cortez Masto (D-Nev.) joined local and federal officials, including U.S. Congressman Mark Amodei (R-Nev.-02) and representatives from the Reno Tahoe Airport Authority, to celebrate the groundbreaking for the Reno-Tahoe International Airport’s expansion project. This construction program will make unprecedented investments in the airport’s infrastructure and fund much-needed upgrades. Senator Cortez Masto secured vital funding in the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law to support airport improvement projects across Nevada, and she has delivered over $124 million in funding to the Reno-Tahoe International Airport since 2018.
“I helped deliver federal funding to support projects like the Reno-Tahoe International Airport’s vital expansion, which is going to create over 4,000 new jobs and further bolster Northern Nevada’s growing economy,” said Senator Cortez Masto. “Improvements to this airport are going to help us provide a world-class travel experience for everyone looking to experience all this region has to offer.”
Senator Cortez Masto secured funding in the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law to support airport improvement projects in the Silver State. She also fought for more than $155 million in the American Rescue Plan to help the recovery of Nevada’s airports by pushing the administration to do more to support Nevada’s airports, airport concessions small businesses, and airline workers affected by the pandemic.
