Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Catherine Cortez Masto (D-Nev.) released the following statement in recognition of the 17th anniversary of September 11th, 2001:
“Seventeen years ago, our country experienced one of the darkest days in our history. The scars of that day are still with us 17 years later, and so are the memories of the bravery and heroism we saw. At the Twin Towers and the Pentagon, brave firefighters, police officers, and first responders rushed into danger to care for the wounded and do all they could to save lives. On United Flight 93, fearless Americans made the ultimate sacrifice to protect the lives of countless others. The dedication and bravery of emergency personnel and everyday civilians went beyond the call of duty, and many gave their lives to save their fellow citizens. We will never forget the innocent lives that were taken, or the stories of bravery and sacrifice that emerged from the devastation of that tragic day.”
