Cortez Masto Celebrates Nevada Public Lands Day

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Catherine Cortez Masto (D-Nev.) released the following statement in celebration of the first official Nevada Public Lands Day:

“Every year, thousands of Nevadans and millions of visitors from all over the world come to our state to hike, camp, hunt, fish and explore our beautiful desert landscapes and mountain ranges. Nevada’s outdoor recreational economy benefits greatly from the protection of our public lands, generating over 148,000 jobs and contributing millions of dollars each year to our state. I thank the Nevada State Legislature and Governor Sandoval for declaring September 30th ‘Public Lands Day,’ and for granting Nevadans free access to all state parks to celebrate our state’s natural history and cultural heritage. I will continue to fight for the protection of our public lands for future generations of Nevadans to enjoy.”
