Reno, Nev. – U.S. Senator Catherine Cortez Masto (D-Nev.) released the following statement celebrating Immigrant Heritage Month:
“This month, we are reminded of the challenges faced by our immigrant ancestors in search of a better life and the contributions they’ve made to our nation. But may we also remember the challenges that immigrants face now in an environment where hate and vitriol run rampant, anti-immigrant rhetoric is normalized, and families are separated every day. During Immigrant Heritage Month, I stand with immigrants and celebrate our shared heritage as a nation of immigrants. Diversity makes our country great and we are stronger for it. I urge my colleagues to join me in fighting for immigrants’ rights, protecting the immigrant community and reforming our broken immigration system.”
