Las Vegas, Nev. – U.S. Senator Catherine Cortez Masto (D-Nev.) celebrated Hispanic Heritage Month at Wendell Williams Elementary School. Cortez Masto spoke with community members and discussed the contributions made by the Hispanic community in Las Vegas. Cortez Masto cosponsored a resolution to recognize September 15th through October 15th as a month to celebrate and honor Hispanic culture in the United States.
“This month, we proudly celebrate the contributions Hispanics have made in our state and the difference Hispanics make in our communities. I’m glad to have celebrated this special month with students in my hometown of Las Vegas. Our kids know that our diversity makes our community stronger, and today we spent time discussing how Hispanic traditions and the Spanish language have shaped our identity and culture as a city and as a State.”
