Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Catherine Cortez Masto (D-Nev.) applauded the U.S. Department of Agriculture for awarding Nye County a $150,000 Rural Development grant. The funds will be used to establish a pilot technical assistance program to identify local health care facility needs in the region and to update the Duckwater Tribe irrigation system.
“Rural Nevadans often face challenges when accessing health care due to limited or distant medical facilities. I commend the USDA for seeking to improve health care accessibility for residents of Nye County to ensure that we are delivering adequate care to all Nevadans. The Duckwater Tribe will also be receiving funding to update their deteriorating irrigation system to help them preserve a clean water supply for food production and safe drinking water.”
