Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Catherine Cortez Masto (D-Nev.) released the following statement commending the Department of Transportation’s (DOT) announcement that it will award a total of $14.8 million to airports in rural areas.
“I commend the Department of Transportation for prioritizing the revitalization of Nevada’s airports. These funds will ensure our runways and facilities are improved and operable so that we can continue to serve the transportation needs of Nevadans, provide emergency services, connect our communities, and promote commerce throughout our state.”
The Department of Transportation awarded the following:
- $10,950,000.00 to the Ely Airport in White Pine County to rehabilitate the airport’s apron and runway.
- $3,000,000.00 to the Elko Regional Airport to fund miscellaneous airport improvements, including the reconstruction of the airport’s perimeter fencing.
- $902,201.00 to the Battle Mountain Airport in Lander County to reconstruct and rehabilitate the airport’s taxiway and runway
