Cortez Masto Announces More Than $58 Million for Nevada Airports from Bipartisan Infrastructure Law

Washington, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Catherine Cortez Masto (D-Nev.) announced that $58.3 million is coming to Nevada airports from the bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has awarded these funds to 30 airports all over the state, including $43,982,805 to upgrade Harry Reid International Airport and $6,851,041 for improvements at Reno-Tahoe International Airport.

“Nevada’s airports connect our state and are the gateways to our travel, tourism, and hospitality industries,” said Cortez Masto. “These funds will help them upgrade so they can better welcome visitors, as well as allowing Nevadans to travel with greater ease. I’ve been adamant throughout the pandemic that Congress needed to support airports, and I’ll continue to work in the Senate to help modernize Nevada’s transportation infrastructure to support our economy and create jobs.”  

After hearing directly from Nevada’s aviation community in September of 2020, Senator Cortez Masto led a letter with the entire Nevada delegation to call for more support for airports, airport concessions small businesses, and airline workers experiencing direct losses due to the pandemic. That effort resulted in more than $155 million of investment to help the recovery of Nevada’s airports, which were hurt by the lack of travelers.
