Cortez Masto Announces $7 Million From Bipartisan Infrastructure Law to Support Infrastructure Upgrades at Reno-Tahoe International Airport

Washington, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Catherine Cortez Masto (D-Nev.) announced that the Reno-Tahoe International Airport will receive $7,000,000 in grant funding she helped secure through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. The funding is being provided through the Federal Aviation Administration’s Airport Terminal Program (FAA) under the U.S. Department of Transportation.

“The Reno-Tahoe International Airport plays a crucial role in fueling Northern Nevada’s growing economy,” said Senator Cortez Masto. “This funding I secured in the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law will help the airport operate more efficiently and continue to support the millions of Nevadans and tourists who travel through the region each year.”

The grant will help the Reno-Tahoe International Airport upgrade aging infrastructure and fund a new Central Utility Plant (CUP). The plant will provide new chillers, heat exchangers, water pumps, cooling towers, water softeners, and water treatment systems for airport facilities.

Senator Cortez Masto delivered funding in the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law to support important airport improvement projects across Nevada, and she has delivered over $124 million in funding to the Reno-Tahoe International Airport since 2018. She also secured more than $155 million in the American Rescue Plan to help the recovery of Nevada’s airports after pushing the administration to do more to support Nevada’s airports, airport concessions small businesses, and airline workers enduring direct losses due to the pandemic. Cortez Masto is pushing Congress to pass the new FAA Reauthorization law to support Nevada’s airports into the future.
