Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Catherine Cortez Masto (D-Nev.) released the following statement following the signing of the America’s Water Infrastructure Act of 2018, which includes the Senator’s provision to help preserve federal funding for critical flood control projects in the Truckee Meadows.
“I’m pleased that President Trump has signed bipartisan legislation to improve and protect America’s water infrastructure,” said Cortez Masto. “My amendment to preserve federal flood control funding for the Truckee Meadows region will help protect Northern Nevada against devastating floods for years to come.”
BACKGROUND:
Cortez Masto’s amendment will preserve federal funding for flood control projects in the Truckee Meadows by correcting a technicality that threatened the future of the Truckee Meadows Flood Control Project. It will ensure that the Truckee River Flood Management Authority remains eligible for over $181 million in federal funding necessary to protect Northern Nevada from natural disasters.
