My office is dedicated to assisting you with issues that may arise while dealing with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). We can assist you with delays in processing federal tax returns, disagreements with tax returns, and penalty abatement, among other matters.
The Taxpayer Advocate Service (TAS) is an independent organization operating within the IRS, dedicated to ensuring fair treatment and promoting taxpayer rights. They serve as a valuable resource for taxpayers and act as a liaison between the IRS and Congressional offices, particularly when constituents encounter challenges with the IRS. To learn more about the TAS and to access their contact information, please visit their website here.
After the IRS receives and acknowledges a tax return, it may take 90 days or more to complete the processing. We are only able to initiate a case with the Taxpayer Advocate Service (TAS) on your behalf if you have not received your refund payment after 90 days. To check the status of your refund, please visit the IRS website here.
Although we are able to provide assistance with a range of IRS-related matters, we do have certain limitations. For example, we are not authorized to offer legal advice or provide tax guidance. If you need assistance obtaining an attorney or legal advice, please see my legal resources page.
*Please note: only one congressional office may submit an inquiry on behalf of a constituent. If you are currently working with another congressional office, you should continue working directly with that office.
