ICYMI: Cortez Masto Passes Her Bill to Extend the Lake Tahoe Restoration Act

In Case You Missed It, this week, Senator Catherine Cortez Masto (D-Nev.) passed her bill to extend the authorization of the Lake Tahoe Restoration Act for 10 years. The Lake Tahoe Restoration Act has delivered millions in federal funding to Lake Tahoe since the original law passed in 2000, supporting environmental protection and habitat restoration programs across the basin.

Senator Catherine Cortez Masto says that her bill to reauthorize the Lake Tahoe Restoration Act has passed the Senate. The legislation is sponsored by Nevada Senator Jacky Rosen and California Senators Alex Padilla and Laphonza Butler.

It would also allow federal funds to continue maintaining the environment, support local jobs and strengthen the tourism economy all around Lake Tahoe.

Well, the legislation now heads over to the House, and the Lake Tahoe Restoration Authorization Act was set to be expired on October 1st.

Senator Catherine Cortez Masto’s legislation to extend the Lake Tahoe Restoration Act is heading to the House of Representatives after passing in the Senate today.

The bill is cosponsored by Senator Jacky Rosen and two California senators. It’s also cosponsored in the House by a number of Nevada and California representatives. The law originally passed in 2000.

This extension looks to continue securing federal funding to maintain the environment, support local jobs, and strengthen tourism around the lake.
