Cortez Masto Highlights Funding to Strengthen Early-Childhood Learning with Tour of Las Vegas Head Start Program

Las Vegas, Nev. – Today, U.S. Senator Catherine Cortez Masto (D-Nev.) visited Acelero Spring Valley Learning Center to highlight her continued support for Head Start programs across Nevada. Acelero Learning provides direct early childhood learning for more than 1,100 Clark County children and their families with the support of funding from the Head Start program. At the tour, Cortez Masto met with teachers, administrations, and students. She also highlighted her work to pass legislation that will deliver critical support help hire and retain Head Start teachers and staff.

Cortez Masto will continue to champion Head Start and push for additional funding ensure programs like Acelero can continue serving families in Nevada.

“We know that every child can succeed if they’re given the proper tools to grow, and it’s so critical that we make early childhood learning programs accessible for all Nevada families,” said Senator Cortez Masto. “That’s why this year I was proud to support an increase in funding for Head Start programs like Acelero. I’m going to continue to do everything I can to support our educators and help Nevada kids get ahead.”

Head Start promotes school readiness for children, ages three to five, by offering no-cost educational, nutritional, health, social and other services to working families. Earlier this year, Cortez Masto passed legislation to deliver over $12.2 billion to Head Start for Fiscal Year 2024 – a $275 million increase over last year.
