Cortez Masto Attends Moapa Southern Paiute Solar Project Commissioning Ceremony

Washington, DC – U.S. Senator Catherine Cortez Masto (D-Nev.) issued the following statement after attending the Moapa Southern Paiute Solar Project Commissioning Ceremony:

“There is no doubt renewable energy is the way of the future for energy sustainability, and Nevada has the unparalleled natural resources to be a national leader in investment and development of clean energy technology and green job creation. The Moapa Southern Paiute Solar Project is the perfect example of this great potential. Our state’s abundance of solar and geothermal energy gives us options beyond the fossil fuels that pollute the air we breathe and the water we drink. I will continue to fight for commonsense policies and projects like this one to  reduce our dependence on fossil fuels, invest in clean energy, and create good paying jobs.”

Senator Cortez Masto was joined by her colleague U.S. Senator Dean Heller (R-Nev.); the Moapa Band of Paiutes; local, state, and federal leaders; and Solar First. At the ceremony, Senator Cortez Masto also emphasized the importance of investing in solar power and projects in partnership with Nevada tribal communities.
