Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Catherine Cortez Masto (D-Nev.) released the following statement celebrating el Día del Niño. Cortez Masto is a cosponsor of the Día del Niño resolution in the Senate.
“One of our primary responsibilities as a society is ensuring the well-being of our children. Our children are our future and we cannot neglect to provide them with quality education, healthcare, childcare, and a clean environment. With this in mind, I am proud to join my Senate colleagues in cosponsoring a resolution commemorating the Day of the Children or Día del Niño. El Día del Niño, which has been a longstanding tradition in much of Latin America, celebrates our children and the immense importance they hold for our future. Providing them with the circumstances for a nourishing childhood is essential for the development of their potential as future leaders. I will continue to fight to ensure all children have the tools and resources they need to get ahead.”
The el Día del Niño resolution designates April 30th as a day to celebrate children and their achievements, and highlights the importance of bicultural and bilingual literature.
