Cortez Masto Statement on Asian Pacific American Heritage Month

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Catherine Cortez Masto (D-Nev.) released the following statement in recognition of Asian Pacific American Heritage Month:

“In Nevada, we know that diversity is our strength and we are greater because of the diversity that Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders bring to our communities. This month, we celebrate their contributions and accomplishments, which have played an integral role in forging and strengthening our communities, despite the many injustices they have endured throughout history. I am fortunate to live in a diverse community such as Las Vegas – home to a fast-growing AAPI population – and see firsthand how they enrich Nevada’s culture and economic development. Asian Pacific American Heritage Month reminds us that we must renew our commitment to fighting injustice and discrimination, especially at a time when division and racism has pervaded the country because of the President’s anti-immigrant rhetoric. It is time for us to work harder than ever before, fight to uphold our American values and let everyone know we stand for justice and equality.”
