Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Catherine Cortez Masto (D-Nev.) released the following statement highlighting Nevada’s overwhelming opposition to Trumpcare’s massive Medicaid cuts, with more than 180 Nevada and national groups, hospitals, schools and faith leaders expressing concern and disproval over the harmful consequences it would have on Nevadans. These groups have either written the Senator, signed public letters, or released public statements opposing ripping away Medicaid coverage from thousands of the most vulnerable Nevadans.
“The growing list of individuals and groups who oppose Trumpcare should serve as a testament to the fact that Nevadans overwhelmingly reject any attempts to reverse the progress Nevada has made under the ACA. A vote to advance any version of Trumpcare that has been proposed thus far is a vote to take away health care coverage from hundreds of thousands of Nevadans; it is a vote to end Medicaid expansion, a successful program that has helped countless low-income Nevada families; it is a vote to put the health of women, children, seniors, people with disabilities and our veterans at risk. Senate Republicans must listen and understand that Nevadans know the severity of what Trumpcare could do to their health care, their families, and their way of life – and that we will continue to stand against any proposal that will put lives at risk.”
