Las Vegas, Nev. – U.S. Senator Catherine Cortez Masto (D-Nev.) released the following statement applauding a U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Development loan of $500,000 to two counties in Nevada. The loan’s funds will provide 30-year loans at 1 percent interest to small businesses in rural Clark and Washoe Counties, with a focus on minority- and women-owned businesses.
“Historically, rural businesses, especially those owned by women and minorities, have faced unfair barriers in accessing credit at competitive interest rates to facilitate growth and productivity,” said Senator Cortez Masto. “Efforts like the USDA’s Rural Development program help address the disadvantages some business owners face in seeking credit. I thank the USDA for its effort to empower small businesses. There is no doubt that this program will help business owners in our state achieve their goal of owning and operating successful small businesses.”
Last month, Senator Cortez Masto unveiled a new Resource Guide for Nevada’s Small Businesses outlining the various government and community resources available to Nevada’s small businesses. The guide is available in English and Spanish.
Senator Cortez Masto is committed to providing support and resources to encourage new small businesses to open their doors as a way to promote economic growth throughout the Silver State.
