Reno, Nev. – U.S. Senator Catherine Cortez Masto (D-Nev.) yesterday met with Washoe County immigration leaders and advocates at Word of Life Ministries to discuss the importance of protecting Dreamers and those who have benefitted from DACA.
“Dreamers grew up in this country, went to school in this country, and now contribute to this country with their hard work, dedication, and perseverance,” said Senator Cortez Masto. “They have gone to college to become lawyers, engineers, doctors, small business owners and continue to make a positive impact in Nevada and our communities. I am grateful for the opportunity to listen to immigration leaders and advocates from Washoe County to learn how exactly the Trump Administration and the Republican-controlled Congress’ callousness towards DACA recipients has harmed and will continue to impact Northern Nevada’s youth. This inaction on DACA is unacceptable and I am thoroughly committed to continue fighting for the Dream Act and comprehensive immigration reform.”
