Cortez Masto Applauds HUD Grants for Southern Nevada, Reno Housing Authorities

Las Vegas, Nev. – U.S. Senator Catherine Cortez Masto (D-Nev.) applauded the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) for awarding a $612,000 grant to the Southern Nevada Regional Housing Authority (SNRHA) and a $99,765 grant to the Housing Authority of the City of Reno (RHA) for HUD’s Family Self-Sufficiency (FSS) Program. The FSS Program empowers low-income families that receive public housing or Section 8 assistance with finding employment, pursuing personal and career goals, and creating escrow accounts from which families may withdraw after five years.

“With these HUD grants for the SNRHA and RHA, families in need throughout Southern Nevada and Reno will continue to have access to the many opportunities that the FSS Program has to offer,” said Senator Cortez Masto. “These grants are a direct investment in our communities. Thanks to these grants, the overall quality of life of many of our neighbors will improve, making these areas even better places to call home. I am grateful for HUD’s dedication to addressing poverty in Nevada and across the country.”
