Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Catherine Cortez Masto (D-Nev.) released the following statement commending the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) fiscal year 2018 grant funding for Nevada.
“I am pleased that several performance arts centers, art exhibits and arts education programs in Nevada will be receiving financial resources so they can continue making an impact in our local communities,” said Cortez Masto. “I commend the National Endowment for the Arts for their support and their commitment to providing Nevadans the opportunity to boldly express their capacity for creativity.”
The following grants will be awarded by the NEA:
- Churchill Arts Council – $35,000: To support a series of music performances held at the Oats Park Art Center, and associated outreach activities.
- City of Sparks, Nevada – $50,000: To support a public art and cultural district plan for downtown Sparks.
- Nevada Arts Council – $704,200: To support arts programs, services, and activities associated with carrying out the agency’s NEA-approved strategic plan.
- Nevada Ballet Theatre, Inc. – $10,000: To support the presentation of dance works by choreographers Robert Joffrey and Gerald Arpino.
