Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Catherine Cortez Masto (D-Nev.) released the following statement announcing her cosponsorship of a resolution recognizing National Police Week 2018, which began on Sunday, May 13th and concludes on Saturday, May 19th. Chad Parque and Charleston Hartfield, Nevada police officers who were killed in the line of duty last year, are named in the resolution.
“Nevada’s police officers work tirelessly to make sure our communities are safe and secure. When I served as Nevada’s attorney general, local police forces were some of my greatest allies in preserving the rights of Nevadans, protecting our communities and fighting human trafficking in our state. Their dedication to serving Nevadans has saved countless lives, as we witnessed during the night of the 1October shooting and the weeks that followed. Their hard work, courage and sacrifice should not go unnoticed. I am proud to be a voice for Nevada’s law enforcement and I remain committed to helping them get the support they need to protect our communities.”
