Cortez Masto Statement on Passage of CRA to Preserve Net Neutrality Protections

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Catherine Cortez Masto (D-Nev.) released the following statement on the passage of the Congressional Review Act (CRA) to reinstate Net Neutrality protections in the Senate after it was repealed by FCC Chairman Ajit Pai in December of last year. Cortez Masto delivered remarks on the Senate floor last week in defense of Net Neutrality, advocating for the state’s small businesses and Nevada’s leadership in technology and innovation through her Innovation State initiative.

“This is a major victory for Nevadans and American consumers all across the country. Net neutrality protections have leveled the playing field for women, minorities, low-income, disadvantaged communities and small businesses all across Nevada. Chairman Pai’s misguided decision to repeal net neutrality threatened our state’s advancement in technology, innovation, education and economic growth. I want to thank Nevadans who spoke out and defended every American consumer’s right to a fair and open Internet. Now, I urge every American who stands for a free and open internet to call on Republicans in the House of Representatives to take this legislation up and pass it.”
