Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Catherine Cortez Masto (D-Nev.) released the following statement following President Trump’s meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un:
“While I am encouraged to see diplomatic negotiations take place, it would be foolish to trust a regime that has repeatedly broken the same promises before. Until we see progress, sanctions must remain in place and the Trump administration must develop and share with Congress a clear and robust plan on how to execute and implement these negotiations. Furthermore, China must not help North Korea break sanctions while Secretary Pompeo and North Korea iron out the details.”
