Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Catherine Cortez Masto (D-Nev.) released the following statement commemorating the 6th anniversary of the announcement of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program.
“The DACA program has allowed thousands of hardworking young men and women to attend college, contribute to our economy and become vital parts of our communities. In Nevada, and throughout America, DREAMers are teachers, engineers, leaders, service members, business owners, parents, neighbors and friends. They just want the chance to live their lives and contribute to the only country they have ever known. It is unthinkable that the Trump Administration’s anti-immigrant agenda has repeatedly forced these kids to live their lives in fear and put their futures on hold. I will continue to fight against the ignorance this President spreads about DREAMers and to ensure they can continue to be teachers and small business owners in our communities. To America’s DREAMers and their families, I say: I stand with you and you belong here.”
