Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Catherine Cortez Masto (D-Nev.) today released the following statement in response to the news that the Department of Justice will reimburse Nevada’s law enforcement agencies with $2,000,100.00 to cover the costs associated with the massacre that occurred at the Route 91 Harvest Music Festival on October 1st, 2017:
“As Nevada’s Senator, I’ve fought to ensure that Nevada’s law enforcement agencies are fully reimbursed for overtime costs they incurred while responding to the worst mass shooting in modern American history. Nevada’s police officers, first responders, fire fighters, and law enforcement officials have worked tirelessly to help our community recover from the catastrophic tragedy that occurred in Las Vegas. Through their bravery, dedication, and selflessness, they saved lives, helped our community heal, and showed the world that we are Vegas Strong. These funds provide critical support to help Nevada cover the monetary costs of the tragedy. I will continue to do all I can to support the brave men and women in law enforcement and help our community heal from this tragedy.”
