Las Vegas, Nev. – U.S. Senator Catherine Cortez Masto (D-Nev.) today attended the grand opening and applauded the completion of the new Interstate 11. The event was hosted by the Regional Transportation Commission (RTC) of Southern Nevada and the Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) to celebrate the completion of a new route between Las Vegas, Nevada and Phoenix, Arizona.
“I-11’s grand opening today is another bold step for Nevada toward economic sustainability and prosperity,” said Cortez Masto. “Expansions of interstate highway networks have led to enhanced economic growth, increased competitiveness, and better personal mobility. And as a state with one of the fastest growing populations in the country, the construction of I-11 is a necessity. I’m committed to securing necessary funding for projects like the I-11 corridor to make sure it eventually connects Las Vegas to Northern Nevada. We need to invest in the future of our infrastructure because it’s an investment in our economy, our competitiveness, and our continued success.”
