Cortez Masto Statement Commemorating LGBTQ History Month

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Catherine Cortez Masto (D-Nev.) released the following statement in recognition of the first day of LGBTQ History Month, October 1st:

“This month, we recognize the vibrant history of activism and solidarity of LGBTQ Americans to achieve social and political equality in the United States. Throughout history, queer Americans have been subjected to violence, intimidation, and humiliation. Many of them have risked and sacrificed their lives to secure the basic civil rights and protections that should be guaranteed to all Americans. This October, let’s honor the bravery, patriotism, and dignity of everyone who has fought for LGBTQ rights and equality. Let’s declare, again, that love is love. American families and communities are stronger because of the progress we’ve made to ensure the equality of LGBTQ individuals, families, and communities.”
