Las Vegas, Nev. – U.S. Senator Catherine Cortez Masto (D-Nev.) released the following statement in response to a new Trump Administration rule to restrict asylum eligibility for individuals who make unauthorized entry into the United States from Mexico.
“This refugee ban is just the latest example of the Trump Administration targeting immigrants and refugees of color. From ripping children from the arms of their parents, to trying to deport hardworking TPS families living and working in our country for decades, to targeting DREAMers who know no other home but America, this President continues to attack the most vulnerable. Creating additional, unfair hurdles for Central American families fleeing violence directly contradicts laws passed by Congress, skirts international norms, and undermines America’s longstanding tradition of providing refuge to those in need.”
