Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Catherine Cortez Masto (D-Nev.) released the following statement announcing her cosponsorship of the Justice for Victims of Lynching Act of 2018 and voicing her support for Congress to finally pass anti-lynching legislation:
“Congress has for too long failed to designate lynching as an illegal hate crime. This legislation would allow Congress to finally stand up for justice for all those murdered in the name of hate and racism, and to begin to right the wrongs of past generations. It’s past time Congress speaks out against this instrument of terror and for a more just future.”
