Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Catherine Cortez Masto (D-Nev.) celebrated the awarding of over $14 million in Continuum of Care (CoC) grants by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to Nevada for local homeless housing and service programs.
“The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has awarded over $14 million to critical support agencies and programs in Nevada helping individuals and families struggling with homelessness. Thousands of Nevadans experience homelessness and food insecurity every year. I’m doing all I can in the Senate to fight for struggling families in Nevada to ensure they have the support they need to overcome financial insecurity, provide basic necessities like shelter and food and secure a good paying job that brings them and their families security.”
BACKGROUND:
CoC grants provide funding for local projects and programs that applied for renewal or transition grants. Transition grants enable applicants to relocate an existing eligible renewal component to an eligible new project component. Awards for new projects are not included in this grants package and are announced later in the year.
The grant package allocates the following:
- $13 million to Clark County
- $1.4 million to Washoe County
- $474,000 to rural communities in Nevada
