Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Catherine Cortez Masto (D-Nev.) released the following statement after she voted in support of a joint resolution to end the United States’ role in Yemen’s civil war.
“As we approach four years of war in Yemen, Congress must do more to push for an end to the conflict and ensure humanitarian aid reaches the millions of innocent civilians who have been suffering for far too long. We must also take action to hold Saudi Arabia accountable for its role in this brutal civil war. While Saudi Arabia is a longtime partner of the United States, its involvement in Yemen has been reckless and has exacerbated the humanitarian crisis there. Today, we took an important step toward ensuring that America’s focus remains on fighting Al Qaeda in Yemen while also holding Saudi Arabia responsible for its actions.”
