Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senators Catherine Cortez Masto (D-Nev.) and Jacky Rosen (D-Nev.) announced over $21.2 million in U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) grant funding for affordable housing and community development projects in Southern Nevada.
“Nevada is experiencing one of the most severe affordable housing shortages in the nation, and these investments will provide a lifeline for Nevadans struggling with skyrocketing rent and outdated housing infrastructure. We’ll continue to fight in the Senate to ensure the Silver State has the funding it needs to expand access to affordable housing, boost economic development, and support communities in the Las Vegas Valley, and across Nevada.”
BACKGROUND:
This package of grants is funded through various programs under the umbrella of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), including the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program, the Emergency Solutions Grants (ESG) program, the HOME Investment Partnerships (HOME) program, and the Housing Opportunities for Persons With AIDS (HOPWA) program. The grant funds will be awarded across Nevada as follows:
- Clark County will receive $11,986,740.
- The City of Las Vegas will receive $9,248,471.
